Bendigo TAFE is inviting people working in or interested in the food and fibre sector to attend its upcoming food and fibre conference, Future Sustainable Food Production.

Led by industry experts, the conference will spotlight important developments in sustainable agricultural management and production principles. It is the second instalment of Bendigo TAFE’s professional development conference series for the food and fibre sector.

“Our conferences are part of our ongoing engagement with industry and the community to support the sector in improving profitability, sustainability, production and competitiveness amidst challenging trade and climatic conditions,” said Nicole Broe, primary industries education manager at Bendigo TAFE.

“The upcoming conference will provide attendees with an opportunity to learn, network and share with the next generation of agriculture and industry trailblazers, and discover new and emerging opportunities in the food and fibre industries.

“It’s also a chance for industry employers to meet our skilled students and connect with prospective employees.”

Bendigo TAFE delivers training in agriculture, horticulture, conservation land management, animal and science studies, with plans in place to develop a new Food and Fibre Centre at its Bendigo Charleston Road campus. The centre, which will include a veterinary clinic, horticulture and landscaping area with greenhouses, and wool and fibre production facility, is projected to open in 2018.

The conference will be held on 24 June (10am to 4pm) at the Bendigo city campus. Tickets can be booked at bendigotafe.edu.au/foodandfibre
