Bendigo TAFE is proud to announce the opening of the Bendigo Skills and Jobs Centre at its city campus today.
Officially opened by the Minister for Training and Skills and Member for Northern Victoria, the Hon. Steve Herbert MLC, the centre was developed by the Victorian Government to provide the Bendigo community with independent advice on local training and job options.
Delivering one service from one central location, the centre provides advice and support to students, apprentices, trainees and job seekers, as well as local businesses and industry.
Services for local residents include advice on personal career planning, credit for existing skills, finding a job and accessing other support services, such as financial and welfare. The centre also supports local businesses to connect with skilled and qualified job seekers, and identify training options for current staff.
At the opening, Bendigo TAFE’s CEO Trevor Schwenke emphasised the centre’s important role in connecting local residents and industry with training pathways that in turn drive growth and success across the Bendigo community.
“Education and training is critical to both a quality life and a successful community. We need to make it easy for people to find the courses that suit their abilities and career aspirations. And we need to make it easy for industry to have their say about the services we provide and connect with the right potential employees,” he said.
“This hasn’t been a simple thing for Bendigo residents and industry in the past. There’s been no easy to access ‘one stop shop’. But the Skills and Jobs Centre will change this.”
The Bendigo Skills and Jobs Centre is one of 15 Skills and Jobs Centres set up by the Victorian Government in a state initiative to connect local communities with accessible training and employment opportunities.
