TRAINING TEACHER TRAINING CERTIFICATE IV IN TRAINING AND ASSESSMENT Course code TAE40116 Direct entry / February, April, July and September intakes If you love interacting with people and you’re passionate about what you do, why not take the next step in your career and become a professional trainer. This training and assessment course is designed to develop your skills and knowledge to perform the role of trainer, facilitator or assessor in the workplace and in Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). Achievement of this qualification or an equivalent by trainers and assessors is a requirement of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015. DURATION Part-time: 9 months SELECTION PROCESS Apply online. To be selected for this course, you will need to attend a course information session, submit a pre-course interview document and undertake a Pre-training Review including Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment to ensure that this training is suitable and appropriate for you. ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS Those entering this program must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification. To enable successful completion of the program, students are advised prior to enrolment to have: At least 3 years’ experience in a vocational area they intend to teach. Sufficient language and literacy skills to write a range of documentation – ASCF level 4. Good communication and interpersonal skills – ASCF level 4. A good working knowledge of computer programs eg: MS Office, Email and Internet research. For those potential students wanting to enrol in this course, you will need to: Complete a pre-training review to determine your level in reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy skills. An ACSF level 4 is required to be achieved by students wishing to undertake the course. Have access to a training environment or simulated training environment in which to conduct your workplace projects. Have access to the internet and a knowledge of search engines. Have a minimum of three years vocational experience in your area of expertise. Applicants will also need to complete a ‘Pre Course Interview’ document and provide their current CV at the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) Information session. People with prior experience in training and assessment should enquire about Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). CAREER OPPORTUNITIES This qualification provides the skills for workplace trainers in the delivery and assessment of a variety of courses including short courses. Possible job titles and roles relevant to this qualification include: • Enterprise Trainer • Enterprise Assessor • Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Trainer • RTO Assessor • Training Adviser or Training Needs Analyst • Vocational Education Teacher. FURTHER STUDY OPPORTUNITIES After completion of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) qualification, students willing to further their studies, can move onto the level 5 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (TAE50116) qualification.
