As an Enrolled Nurse you will work under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse to assist in the provision of preventive, curative and rehabilitative nursing care in hospitals, aged-care facilities, the community and other health care settings. Placement is a mandatory part of the course (440 hours) and this is organised by Kangan Institute and may be in Metropolitan Melbourne or regional Victoria. DURATION Full-time: 2 years (3 days per week) PREREQUISITES • You must be 18 years of age or older to enrol in this course • You must have successfully completed VCE or equivalent, or be of mature age and have related work experience • You must sit a VETASSESS test or present results of a VETASSESS test within 12 months of course commencement. You must achieve the minimum score or higher to be considered for enrolment • You must meet the English Language Skills requirement as specified by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. English Language Requirement If English is your primary language, you have attended and satisfactorily completed at least six (6) years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed in English in one of the recognised countries, including at least 2 years between years 7 and 12. If English is your second language, you provide: • Evidence of completing at least 3 years of (full time equivalent) of combined secondary and/or vocational education, and/or tertiary education taught and assessed in English, in one of the recognised countries 1 , OR • Evidence of IELTS (academic module) with a minimum overall score of 7 and a minimum score of 7 in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking), OR • Evidence of OET with a minimum score of B in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking), OR • Evidence of PTE Academic with a minimum overall score of 65 and a minimum score of 65 in each of the four communicative skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking), OR • TOEFL iBT with a minimum total score of 94 and the following minimum score in each section of the test: 24 for listening, 24 for reading, 27 for writing, and 23 for speaking. 1 Recognised country means one of the following: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom, United States of America SELECTION PROCESS You will be assessed to ensure that you have the satisfactory language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) and the communication skills to undertake the course. You will also be required to attend an information session and interview. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES This course will qualify you to work in acute, sub-acute, rehabilitation, mental health, aged care, palliative care, GP clinics and community health centres.
