HEALTH HEALTH & NURSING CERTIFICATE III IN DENTAL ASSISTING Course Code HLT35015 Traineeship / Rolling enrolments This qualification provides the knowledge and skills needed to assist a Dentist, Dental Hygienist or Dental Therapist during all dental care procedures. Delivery combines work experience and structured training to competently and safely assist the dental professional during oral health care procedures. This qualification may also be undertaken as a traineeship. DURATION Full-time: 1 year Part-time: 2 years PREREQUISITES Must be employed in a dental practice. SELECTION PROCESS • Minimum age of 18 years • Pre-training interview and Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment • Completion of the HLTAID003 Provide First Aid certificate within four weeks of course commencement. Delivery combines work experience and structured training to competently and safely assist the dental professional during oral health care procedures. This qualification may also be undertaken as a traineeship. DURATION Full-time: 1 year Part-time: 2 years PREREQUISITES You should be an experienced Dental assistant, that has been working in the practice for a minimum of 12 months. In your role, you should be; • mentoring and inducting new employees • implementing and monitoring infection control and work health and safety policies and procedures • Monitoring compliance for WHS and infection control • Conducting workplace risk assessments.
