CERTIFICATE III IN INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT (AGEING, HOME AND COMMUNITY) OR (DISABILITY) Course code: CHC33015 Direct entry / Semester one Designed for people who wish to work as a personal care worker, you will learn how to support and care for older people in a range of aged care facilities; and clients in a home and community setting. You will apply theory to practice during industry placement. Specialisations offered: Ageing and Home & Community or disability. DURATION Full-time: 2 days on campus per week over 6 months. Disability stream only offered 1 day over 6 months. Full-time: 1 day on campus per week over 9 months. Course includes 120 hours of mandatory work placement. PREREQUISITES A Police check and a Commonwealth of Australia Statutory Declaration must be obtained prior to undertaking work placement. NOTE: Venues reserve the right to refuse you for placement based on the results of the above mentioned declarations. SELECTION PROCESS Aged at least 18 years, Pre-training interview and Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES This course can lead to employment as a Personal Care Assistant or Personal Care Worker. FURTHER STUDY OPTIONS You can further your study by undertaking the Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33015) – Disability stream, as well as Certificate IV in Disability (CHC43115). Workers may provide support, advocacy or interventions to individual clients, groups or communities across a range of services. DURATION Part-time: 2.5 days per week for 6 months. SELECTION PROCESS Pre-training Interview and Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES You can find employment as a Community Health Worker, Family Support Worker, Tenants Advisory Worker, Welfare Rights Worker or Case Support Worker. FURTHER STUDY OPTIONS Further your study with a Diploma of Community Services (CHC52015) and/or an Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management (CHC62015).
